Greg Sawatzky has served as an elder at Grace since 2020 and will complete his sixth and final year in June 2026.
Greg retired from Boeing in 2018 after 38 years in a variety of computing and technical communications roles. Prior to joining Boeing, he worked as a flight attendant, home handyman, and auto mechanic.
Greg and his wife, Jan, met at Seattle Pacific University and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2025. To mark the milestone, they took their entire family—including their son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, and five grandchildren—to a lodge along Lake Michigan, where their son-in-law grew up vacationing.
For 34 of their 50 years together, Greg and Jan have been deeply engaged in the ministries of Grace Community Church. Both love serving and singing and have participated in past choirs. Greg has also been involved in solo and small-ensemble singing, and together they have played roles in various theatrical ministries at Grace, including Journey to Jerusalem. In addition, they coordinated Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class at Grace for many years.
Greg’s current service at Grace is focused on Drive-Thru Prayer (DTP), where he helps bring hope, healing, and the Gospel message to hundreds of neighbors each year.
Outside of Grace, Greg serves weekly as a mechanic and informal chaplain with a bicycle ministry and sings and plays music monthly at several adult family homes for seniors.
