WEEK 14: THE TRINITY

Pastor: Jesse Bradley Series: The One Scripture: John 14:1–31

WEEK 14: The Trinity

Read: John Chapter 14

When Jesus ascended into heaven, God didn’t abandon us like orphans. It was traumatic for the disciples to see their Lord crucified, then after His resurrection, depart into the clouds. God’s plan was not making sense to them. There was no way they could faithfully answer the call and fulfill their purpose with merely their own strength and power. They battled fear, discouragement, and despair. The perfect gift was coming. The Holy Spirit, God’s presence inside of them. They heard Jesus and received hope. Like the disciples, we need God to lead us, convict us, teach us, empower us, and comfort us. The Holy Spirit is often overlooked today, as if technology, principles, and methods could replace God’s presence in our lives. Many well-intentioned Christians reduce the truth about how much we need the Holy Spirit every day. The Scripture is not superior to the Spirit. God wants us to be filled with His word and His Spirit. Stop settling for less than what Jesus offers you.

Hope Point: The Holy Spirit ministers within you.

Reflection Questions:

1. What is Jesus promising and how does this encourage you? (John 14:1-4)
2. How is Jesus’ teaching dependable but not politically correct today? (John 14:5-7)
3. What do we learn about Father God in these verses? (John 14:8-14)
4. What do we learn about our relationship with the Holy Spirit? (John 14:15-21)
5. What insights do we gain about the Trinity? (John 14:22-31)

Who can you share this Scripture with during the upcoming week?

Prayer:

We praise You Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We thank You for the Trinity, and perfect unity. We are made in Your image. Help us, we pray, to live in community that honors You. We want to serve, encourage, love, forgive, listen, and pray for one another. May our church family be united for Your glory. May our families walk humbly together with You. Thank You Holy Spirit for guiding, teaching and empowering us daily. We pray in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
