WEEK 4:

Read: Romans Chapter 4

The promises of God are received by faith. Righteousness does not come through the law. Some people Paul wrote to were tempted to put their confidence in the religious actions, like circumcision. Good deeds can’t save us. We are redeemed, which means bought back, through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Abraham is an example of someone who believed God and righteousness was credited to Him. We have a rich spiritual legacy through the patriarch. The gospel doesn’t change. The grace of God, an undeserved gift, truly is amazing. Even when it looks like there is no hope, we have the certain and infinite hope of Jesus and Scripture. God does not lie or deceive us. The truth of God’s word is the foundation of our relationship with Him. You can trust the Bible which attests to the saving power of our Lord. Our sins are forgiven; it is finished! We know that we are in God’s forever family, will spend eternity with Jesus, and have this anchor for our souls.

Hope Point: God’s promises are received through trusting His word and living with His certain hope.

Reflection Questions:

1) What do we know about Abraham and why is he significant? (Romans 4:1-3)
2) How does God bless the person who trusts Him? (Romans 4:4-8)
3) What were some promises God gave to Abraham? (Romans 4:9-15)
4) In what ways is Abraham our father and example? (Romans 4:16-17)
5) How did Abraham choose the hope of God and walk by faith? (Romans 4:18-25)

Who can you share this Scripture with during the upcoming week?

Prayer:

Wonderful God, You reign and are always good. We were made in Your image, and You designed us to know and worship You. Your presence is our greatest gift. We receive Your word, hope, encouragement, love, wisdom, and peace. Thank You Holy Spirit for Your comfort, power, and guidance. Thank You Jesus for being faithful. We want to live like You. Your hope is infinite and greater than our circumstances.  You are our Rock, Lord. We find our identity and security in You. We praise You and offer ourselves to serve You. We want to do what You want us to do. You are our Good Shepherd, and we trust Your voice. We thank You and ask this in Your name Jesus, amen.
